Bajaj Pulsar 150

It has been more than a decade since the Bajaj Pulsar was first launched. The motorbike is today available in multiple variants of engine capacity but it when it first started, it was with the 150cc. The Bajaj Pulsar 150CC bike available today comes with a 4 stroke DTS-i engine offering a very good 15.06 BHP power and 12.5 torque. As a comparison, the Yamaha FZ16 that comes with a 153cc engine only offers around 13.8 BHP. Bajaj Pulsar 150 is available in Delhi at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 67,110.

Bajaj Pulsar 150 Mileage

Bajaj Pulsar 150 Mileage

Until the Pulsar 150 was launched in 2001, one of the most important metrics to look at while purchasing a bike was the mileage. Bajaj Pulsar was one of the first bikes to put performance above fuel economy and launch a bike that would offer power albeit at a slight cost of the mileage. But with the ever increasing petrol prices, more and more customers are now starting to look back at good mileage as one of the most important parameter while purchasing a bike. And the latest Bajaj Pulsar 150 does not disappoint. The bike clocks 64 kmpl under standard test conditions.

Customer Reviews of Mileage

Standard test conditions rarely ever match the real life riding conditions. That is exactly why city conditions always bring out a much lower mileage than what companies claim. MaxAbout reports that city conditions could bring down the mileage from around 62 kmpl (that they observed on highways) to around 45 kmpl.

BikeDekho’s own test returned slightly different results. On highways, their test drive reported a mileage of  65 kmpl while on city roads, this was down to 56.5 kmpl. User reviews on BikeAdvice see users reporting anywhere between 40 kmpl and 60 kmpl. However the common refrain for those riding it on city roads is a mileage of around 50-52 kmpl.

In a comparative review of Bajaj Pulsar 150 against TVS Apache, Top Gear notes that the Pulsar returns a pretty good mileage of 52.6 kmpl in the city compared to the 48.7 kmpl fuel economy offered by Apache. IndianDrives has a pretty similar review of fuel economy. In their review, the website reports a mileage of 48 kmpl on city road conditions.

There are quite a few Pulsar 150 bikes on sale on Quikr. Overall, the mileage indicated by the customers appears to hover between 40-50 kmpl. The situation as reported by customers on Olx is slightly better. From a number of Pulsar 150 bikes on sale on the site, it looks like the average mileage as reported by the customers there is between 45-55 kmpl.

Lastly, let’s look at what customers on MouthShut have to say. There are around 46 reviews for the Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTS-i and the overall verdict is a pretty good 4/5 for fuel consumption. The mileage reported by the various reviewers hover between 40 – 53 kmpl. Only one user reports a mileage of less than that. So for average you can assume a mileage of 45 kmpl under city conditions.

I’ve summed up the mileage reported by various reviewers in the table below.

Bottomline, should you go for it? I would say that if you are considering a Pulsar 150, you should be looking at more parameters than just mileage. But as far as the fuel consumption is concerned, the Pulsar 150 gets a thumbs up from here. A 45-50 kmpl for a 150cc sounds like a pretty good deal to me. What are your views?

Honda CB Twister

Given the lower cost and relatively higher mileage, 110cc motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular in India. Honda has more than one bike in this segment. While we have already discussed the Dream Yuga, we are yet to review the mileage of Honda CB Twister which was launched much earlier back in 2009. This motorbike comes with a 109cc 4 stroke single cylinder engine that offers a max power of 9 BHP and a max torque of 9 Nm. The bike weights just over 108 kg and given the  light weight, it is a much preferred bike by people who would prefer utility over style. Honda CB Twister comes at a starting price of Rs. 45,156 ex-showroom in Delhi.

Honda CB Twister Mileage

Honda CB Twister Mileage

The last 110cc bike we discussed on MileageInfo was the TVS Star City. The bike claimed an official mileage of 83.9 kmpl while in real life testing conditions the bike was reported to draw around 65 kmpl. According to Honda, the CB Twister could draw about 70 kmpl of fuel efficiency under standard testing conditions. Given the difference in official mileage claims, can the CB Twister still match the Star City? Let’s check the reviews out.

User Reviews

Mileages reported by customers are normally lower than that claimed by the company primarily because customers test their bike mileages in city conditions whereas the company measures it under standard highway-like testing conditions. According to BikeDekho, the Honda CB Twister can give a mileage as claimed by the company on highways although in city driving conditions, this may fall down to 55 kmpl – the average they claim is 65 kmpl.

IndianDrives.com offers a pretty great review of the bike and in their test, the blog reports a mileage of 57.2 kmpl under mixed conditions (city + highways). They however claim the mileage gets better as you drive more and you could possibly reach 60+ kmpl after riding 1000 kilometers.

Grahaksevak is a consumer complaints forum. CB Twister customers who have posted on the site have reported a mileage of around 45-50 kmpl. MaxAbout though has a better review. They report a city road mileage of 55 kmpl while the fuel efficiency on the highways is a good 70 kmpl.

All said, if you are looking for a real good reason to buy a CB Twister, you should check out the reviews by customers on xBHP.com. In the ownership thread for CB Twister where people who own a Twister post, a lot of customers report a mileage of  over 70 kmpl even in city conditions. Customers also report mileage of close to 97 kmpl on the highways. The common refrain in the thread is that when you drive in the 40-50 kmph range on highways, you can see 80+ but while on the city roads, you can only expect around 65 kmpl – not bad at all and definitely on par with, if not better than what is reported by people riding the Star City or Honda Dream Yuga.

Before I finish the review, I would definitely want you to consider what people over at MouthShut.com are saying. There are 126 reviews for the CB Twister and they together rate the bike a 4/5 for fuel consumption. Most of the reviews report a mileage of between 60-70 kmpl with some readers again noting a better mileage of close to 80 kmpl while driving on the highways.

Here is a crisp summary of the mileages reported on various websites.

I do not say this everytime but the Honda CB Twister seems to be one bike where the reality appears better than company claims. You can definitely see awesome mileages in the right conditions. Elsewhere on everyday roads, you can still see a pretty good mileage close to what the company claims. If you are on the fence still, take my advice – go for it.

TVS Victor GLX 125

TVS Victor has been around in the market for more than eight years now. In fact, TVS had announced earlier this year that they plan to relaunch Victor around December. Despite being around for so long, TVS Victor has been one of the companies’ better selling models – it comes with a 4 stroke 125cc engine that provides a power of 10 BHP (7.36 kw) and torque of 9.8 Nm. These specs make us realize why this bike desperately needs a relaunch. The rivals in the space offer much better power at the same engine capacity. Yamaha Gladiator has a power of 8 kw while the Honda Stunner CBF has it much better at 11 BHP.

TVS Victor GLX 125cc Mileage

TVS Victor Mileage

TVS is pretty trusted among the middle class for offering bikes with consistently good fuel efficiency. With the TVS Victor, the company claims a mileage of 85 kmpl under standard test conditions. That’s a pretty tall claim considering the claimed mileage of a lot of the other bikes in the segment do not even come close. For instance, Yamaha Gladiator claims 67 kmpl, Honda Stunner is at 68.3 kmpl while Bajaj claims 65-70 kmpl on Discover 125ST and Hero claims 60 kmpl on the Ignitor.

Actual Mileage on TVS Victor GLX 125

If you are a regular reader here, you may have realized by now that the actual mileage extracted on motorbikes under regular city driving conditions are nowhere close to what is claimed under standard test conditions. The TVS Victor is no better. According to reviews from various customers over the  years on MouthShut.com, the TVS Victor GLX 125CC appears to offer a mileage of anywhere between 52 – 60 kmpl under city conditions. Most of the customers aren’t complaining though and they have all together rated the bike 4/5 on fuel consumption.

The scene is not very different on Olx.in. Sellers on the portal report a mileage of somewhere between 45 – 55 kmpl on their TVS Victor. One other customer reports  65 kmpl. But do take these mileages with a grain of salt considering that a lot of sellers do tend to overstate the mileage in order to gain a better deal on the sale.

Reviews and test drives from bloggers all seem to agree on the actual mileage being around the 50 kmpl mark. In their review, Vicky.in reports an “overall mileage” (city+highways) of around 55 kmpl on the Victor. Another site, IndiaBike report a mileage of 54.9 kmpl during their test drive.

Considering that the TVS Victor has been around for so long and not too many blogs were around back when it launched, you do not have as many test drives and reviews for this bike as you would for the newer launches. Nevertheless, reading the reviews from long time customers, one does get the feeling that this is a value for money bike. There are hardly any complaints from customers complaining of poor mileage. The lowest I have noticed is just around 45 kmpl which is still a decent fuel efficiency. Overall, if you are buying a TVS Victor GLX 125 today, you can expect a mileage of around 50 kmpl which is still best in the class. Still on the fence? My recommendation would be to go for it – although waiting for the relaunched Victor wouldn’t hurt either.

Hero Maestro

Traditionally motorcycle manufacturers have targeted the males with their bikes and the scooters are targeted primarily at the female audience. Even those of them who target the males with their scooters position them as a unisex model. Hero Maestro is one of the few scooters targeted primarily at the males. The scooter is equipped with a 4-stroke, single cylinder 109cc engine offering a maximum power of 6 kw and torque of 9.10 Nm. Specs wise, the Hero Maestro is very much like the Honda Aviator 109CC.

Hero Maestro Mileage

Hero Maestro Mileage

At 109cc, the Hero Maestro has the same engine cylinder volume as the Honda Dream Yuga. Given that the Yuga claims a mileage of 72 kmpl, you would imagine a relatively lighter scooter like Hero Maestro to offer a much higher fuel efficiency. But at first look, that doesn’t seem to be the case. According to the company officials, the Maestro offers a mileage of just around 60 kmpl. Is that what everyone riding the scooter is reporting? Let’s find out.

Hero Maestro Customer Reviews

According to one customer reviewing his newly purchased Hero Maestro on BikeDekho, the scooter is expected to offer a relatively low mileage till the third service post which the mileage should shoot to 55-60 kmpl. As a new customer though, he reports a mileage of 41.7 kmpl in city conditions. On Vicky.in, a customer of two months has again reported a mileage of between 40 – 41 kmpl.

These reported mileages are for city conditions. On highways, the mileage could be closer to the officially claimed consumption levels. That is exactly what MaxAbout is reporting. In their test drive, they report a mileage of 42 kmpl under city conditions and a much better 60 kmpl on the highways. That’s very similar to what the folks at IamaBiker note,at least in the city conditions. In their review, they write that the reported mileage on city roads is 43 kmpl although on the highways, the fuel consumption is not very high at 47 kmpl. AutoEmpyrean too report a mileage of between 40-45 kmpl in their test drive.

Often times, MouthShut is a great place to see what disgruntled customers (who are more likely to review a product that those happy with a product) have to say about the mileage on their vehicles. There are 23 reviews for the Hero Maestro and overall, these reviewers have given the scooter a 4/5 for fuel consumption. Most of these reviewers report a mileage of anywhere between 45 – 51 kmpl; except for one reviewer who reports 40 kmpl before servicing.

As with MouthShut, it is also always nice to see what people on classifieds like Olx or Quikr have to say considering people selling a bike always tend to overstate the mileage. As you would expect, almost all the bikes put up for sale are reported to see mileages of between 50 – 60 kmpl.

Here is a summary of what various people report on the fuel consumption:

Should you buy a Maestro?

Overall, the average mileage that most people seem to report under city conditions is between 40-45 kmpl. Most of these people also appear to be happy with the mileage they were able to extract. I can see why though. Most of the other scooters in the segment too seem to be offering around the same mileage. For example, Mahindra Rodeo offers 45 kmpl while Kinetic Flyte is around 40 kmpl. Honda Dio is again in the 45 kmpl range. The only  scooter that is sub-par in this comparison is the Honda Aviator at less than 40 kmpl. Given this is the case, the thumbs are definitely up for the Hero Maestro.

Bajaj Avenger 220

Bajaj Avenger is one of the few cruiser kind motorcycles available in India. It was inspired by the Kawasaki eliminator and was initially launched with a 180cc engine. This has now been gradually increased to now come with a 220cc engine. The Avenger comes with a 5 speed transmission, a 14 liter fuel tank, a 4 stroke single cylinder engine, 19.03 PS max power, 17.5 max torque and a wheelbase of 58.1 inches. You can buy an Avenger from Delhi at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 76,835.

Bajaj Avenger 220 Mileage

Bajaj Avenger Mileage

Considering that the Bajaj Avenger is not your regular take-to-office kind of a bike, mileage is not the first priority when it comes to features. In any case, at 220CC, the engine enhances the power of the bike at the cost of fuel consumption which means you may not see the regular 60+ kmpl mileage claims like manufacturers do with the bikes with smaller engines. Bajaj claims the mileage of Bajaj Avenger to be 49.8 kmpl under standard testing conditions.

Bajaj Avenger Fuel Consumption Reviews

Cruiser motorcycles has its legions of fans and so you will not have too many buyers complain about mileage. That’s because mileage was not the priority even when they purchased the bike. According to the official review on PriceDekho, the Bajaj Avenger should draw 32-35 kmpl under regular city conditions. BikeDekho, one of their sister sites though claims the average mileage to be as much as 40 kmpl. That’s a pretty high variance here and so we are going to assume the latter fuel efficiency is what you will see on the highways.

ZigWheels.com rates the Bajaj Avenger the second most fuel efficient bike in the 200-250cc segment – behind Bajaj Pulsar 220F. In their tests, they were able to extract 40 kmpl in the city and 49 kmpl on the highways. Assuming that the next best in the segment only offered an average mileage of 39 kmpl, you must say that the Avenger is a pretty solid bike in the category.

Classifieds sites are always an excellent place to review the actual mileages. In a post on Olx, a customer claims that he sees 38 kilometers per liter on his Nov 2011 model of the Bajaj Avenger 220. That’s not bad and is pretty close to what others report.

I looked into a few consumer complaints forum and even here mileage is not one of the reported issues. On ComplaintBoard, a customer reports seeing a mileage of 35 kmpl. So as you can see, you are guaranteed a mileage of over 30 kmpl which is pretty much expected on a motorcycle of this size.

Should you buy a Bajaj Avenger?

There are a host of reasons including the need for a cruiser kind motorcycle that should go into your decision making process. But be assured that mileage is not one of them. At an average of around 35 kmpl, the Bajaj Avenger seems to do a good job in fuel efficiency while managing the rest of the features better. Here is a summary of what the various reviewers say.

Yamaha Gladiator

Yamaha India launched the Yamaha Gladiator as early as 2006. However, the company has released facelifted variants of the bike since then. Yamaha Gladiator, also known as Yamaha YBR 125 is a 125cc bike that offers a maximum power of 8 kw at 7500 rpm. Other specs and features of the bike include a 10.4 NM maximum torque, a 5 speed constant mesh gear box, a 13 liter capacity fuel tank and 130 kilogram maximum payload. The Yamaha Gladiator is priced at Rs. 49,101 ex-showroom at Kolkata.

Yamaha Gladiator Mileage Reviews

Official Mileage Claim

We have reviewed a couple of other 125 CC bikes earlier in the blog. Except for Honda Ignitor which claimed a mileage of 60 kmpl, others, namely Bajaj Discover 125ST and Honda Stunner CBF both claimed mileages above 65 kmpl. The Yamaha Gladiator is no different. According to company officials, the Gladiator clocks 67 kmpl under standard testing conditions.

Yamaha Gladiator Mileage Reviews

There are a number of Yamaha Gladiator bikes for sale on classifieds sites. These postings give us a good idea of what the  mileage reported by real world users of the Gladiator is. For example, one customer on Quikr reports a mileage of 50 kmpl while another user on Sulekha reports a mileage of 60 kmpl. An advertisement on CarTrade has a user claim a mileage of 45-50 kmpl. Do note that most of these sellers on classifieds sites try to give a very positive spin on their bike review in order to be able to find buyers. So take these mileage reviews with a pinch of salt.

Another user on Yahoo has complained of seeing a pretty low mileage of 43 kmpl. However, according to Vicky.in, the reputable online bike store, the expected mileage from the Yamaha Gladiator is 60 kmpl. Again, this is based on their independent review in standard conditions which means the city mileages may be a little lower.

ZigWheels, the Times group owned motorbike site, have reviewed the Yamaha Gladiator and according to them, the mileage you may expect from the bike is as good as 65 kmpl. I am not sure if this is under city conditions.

There are over 130 reviews of the Gladiator on MouthShut and the users there have given an overall rating of 4/5 for fuel consumption efficiency  of Yamaha Gladiator. That’s a pretty decent score. Looking into the  most recent reviews, customers report a pretty good increase in mileage with increasing usage and servicing. One user reports seeing an initial mileage of 54 kmpl which increased to 56 kmpl and subsequently to 58-60 kmpl after the first and second servicing. There are also others who report a mileage of 60-65 kmpl that dropped to 55-60 after a year and a half.

Mahindra Rodeo RZ

Mahindra is one of the latest entrants to the scooter segment. The company has been making scooters since 2009 and Rodeo is one of its most popular offerings. The newly launched Mahindra Rodeo RZ comes with a 125CC engine that provides 6 KW of power at 7000 RPM. That’s the same as what is provided by the 109CC engine of Honda Aviator  (8 BHP at 8000 RPM). Mahindra Rodeo is available at a price of Rs. 46,695 (ex-showroom) from Delhi. This is lower than the price of Honda Dio 110CC, TVS Wego and the Aviator but higher than Kinetic Sym Flyte.

Mahindra Rodeo RZ Mileage

Mileage Claimed by Mahindra

According to Mahindra, the latest variant of the Rodeo comes with a new Z-Series engine that has advanced dual curve digital ignition system. This is designed to offer a pretty decent mileage of 59.38 kmpl under standard ARAI test conditions. Among all the scooters that we have reviewed till now, this is the highest mileage claimed by any vehicle. That does not necessarily mean it translates to happiness among real customers. Let’s see what real customers say.

Customer Mileage Reviews

In their test drive of the new Rodeo RZ, Overdrive claims that the actual mileage seen on road is pretty lower than what the company claims. OverDrive noticed a city mileage of just around 45.6 kmpl while the fuel efficiency improves to 56.2 kmpl on highways. Another website, PricesofIndia gives a thumbs down with respect to the actual mileage as well. According to them, the Mahindra Rodeo RZ extracts only around 45 kmpl, presumably under city conditions. This review is also backed by another website, IndiaMart, who have reported a mileage of 45 kmpl.

BikeDekho though reports a much better fuel consumption. According to them, the new Rodeo RZ offers a mileage of close to 53 kmpl. However more than one of their readers have posted their own reviews claiming the actual city mileage is only around 25-30 kmpl. That’s pretty low and I am still unsure if this is an outlier and needs to be considered.

Vicky.in, a popular online retailer of automobiles, offers the best mileage review for the Rodeo RZ. They report a mileage of around 56 kmpl under ARAI test conditions. Like with the official claim though, you should take this mileage too with a grain of salt considering that these conditions differ widely from actual road conditions.

Should you buy Rodeo RZ?

Overall, the mileage you can practically expect from the Mahindra Rodeo RZ should be around 45 kmpl. Although this is much lower than what Mahindra claims in their official capacity, this is not too different from what the rest in the pact claim. Maybe Activa is the only scooter that can realistically offer a better mileage. So this being the case, I would suggest you to look into the other features offered by scooters before you make a choice. The mileage seems to be comparable to most other variants out there in the market.

Bajaj Platina 100CC

With the ever growing demand for 100cc motorbikes, this lower end of the motorbike segment has seen some really good products come out in the past 2-3 years. Bajaj launched the Platina 100CC bike way back in 2006. The Bajaj Platina is powered by a 4 stroke natural air cooled engine that offers a maximum power of 8.2 BHP at 7500 rpm. It has a 13 liter fuel tank and a hydraulic telescopic type suspension. The Bajaj Platina 100cc bike is priced at Rs. 38,990 (ex-showroom) in Delhi.

Bajaj Platina Mileage

Official Bajaj Platina Mileage

Bajaj Platina is designed to provide a relatively better mileage compared to its peers. According to a company release, the bike was tested in a combination of city and highway conditions and the overall mileage that was noted was around 75 kmpl. For comparison, the mileages offered by TVS Star City, Honda Stunner CBF and Honda Dream Yuga are 83.9 kmpl, 68.3 kmpl and 72 kmpl respectively.

Mileage Reported By Customer Reviews

The mileage reported in test drives from MaxAbout do not do justice to the mileage claimed by the company. According to the review, Bajaj Platina clocks 53-57 kmpl in highways and this falls down to 48 kmpl in city conditions. That’s pretty low for a 100cc bike. BikeAdvice though makes some pretty tall claims in its review. According to the blog, the Bajaj Platina clocks 108 kilometers per liter. I’m not sure if this is the tested mileage or is reported from third party testings. Either way, this mileage appears to be an outlier and so do not expect the same on your bike.

MouthShut has always been the best site to read about mileages reported by actual customers. On the website, Bajaj Platina gets a 4/5 rating for fuel consumption. While this is a pretty good rating, there are customers who report dissatisfaction; none of them with the fuel efficiency though. However, there appears to be a great variation in the mileages reported. While one customer reports a mileage of between 55 – 60 kmpl in city conditions, there are others that note a fuel consumption of 70 kmpl. But the average  mileage you could see is around 55 kmpl.

On IndiaMart, customers report mileages of between 65-70 kmpl. One customer though writes that he is able to extract over 100 kmpl – maybe every once in a while there is a bike that offers a really awesome mileage. Maybe it’s the norm, or maybe Platina bikes that offer over 100 kmpl are an outlier. In any case, even mileages of over 65 kmpl are not a bad option and so you can still go for them.

Should you buy?

Honda Aviator

Honda India launched its popular Aviator range of scooters way back in 2009. Last year, the company launched an upgraded version of the vehicle. The scooter comes with a 109cc 4 stroke engine delivering  8 BHP power at 8000 rpm and a 6 liter fuel tank. Aviator standard is now available at an on-road price of Rs. 51,650 while Aviator Deluxe is available for Rs. 57,291 – both prices calculated for the Delhi market.

Honda Aviator Mileage

Honda Aviator Mileage

There is no advertised mileage for Honda Aviator put up on the Honda website. However, from what I could gather through research online, the Deluxe variant of Honda Aviator is expected to offer a decent 52 kmpl mileage under standard conditions. When I say standard conditions, it means conditions that are pretty conducive for very low fuel consumption, which means under regular city conditions, it could be difficult to reach this mileage

Honda Aviator Fuel Efficiency Customer Feedback

According to a little known website called ScootyPrice, Aviator offers a mileage of between 45-48 kilometers per liter. Quite a few “customers” to the website’s post have observed a mileage of between 50-55 kmpl. That is not to say everyone’s happy though. A lot more customers also complain of mileage as low as 35 kmpl. In fact, a few customers have even reported the low mileage on ConsumerComplaints.in – a popular consumer complaints forum.

Like in the case of Kinetic Flyte, Honda Aviator too has a pretty ordinary 3/5 rating with respect to fuel consumption on the user reviews website, MouthShut. This rating comes from over 82 customer reviews. According to one user, the mileage is as good as 46 kmpl, while another reports 30 kmpl. Apparently, the mileage falls from 45 kmpl to 30 kmpl after the first service according to a review from a third customer.

On BikeAdvice, a commenter who claims to have tested the scooter exhaustively claims that the Honda Aviator offers a mileage of 30-40 kmpl in city conditions while that in highways goes up as high as 45-50 kmpl.

Should You Buy Aviator?

A summary of the mileage reviews for the Aviator is showcased at the bottom of this paragraph. If you compare this with the mileages offered by the Activa (54 kmpl), Honda Dio (40-43) or TVS Wego (40-50), you will see that the mileage you can realistically expect is not much. Of course this seems to be a better bet than Kinetic Flyte, but that’s not saying much. This doesn’t seem to be a bad choice, but just that there are better products than this in the market. You can probably go for them instead.

Kinetic Sym Flyte

Kinetic launched the Sym Flyte way back in 2007. After acquiring Kinetic in late 2008, Mahindra relaunched the Kinetic Flyte in 2009. The Kinetic Flyte is a good 125cc cylinder scooter that compares well against its peers like Honda Activa and is targeted at the women. The scooter comes with front fueling, telescopic front suspension and 130mm brakes at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 41,200 in Delhi.

KInetic Sym Flyte Mileage

Kinetic Flyte Mileage

According to the official releases, Kinetic Flyte can offer its riders a mileage of around 45 kilometers for a liter of petrol. That’s not saying a lot considering that the official mileage claimed for rivals like Activa, Dio and Wego are much higher. Activa claims a mileage of 54 kmpl, Dio claims 55 kmpl while the mileage for Wego is 50 kmpl.

Mileage Reviews from Customers

Considering that the officially claimed fuel efficiency is itself not much, I don’t expect customers to see drastically different results. On TeamBHP, the popular automobile forum, a customer who tested it with a pillion rider observed 40-42 kmpl fuel consumption on the Flyte (apparently this dropped to between 35-40 after few months of usage and servicing). Another female rider who rides single though says she consistently sees above 50 kmpl on her scooter.

On MouthShut, 79 customers have cumulatively rated the Kinetic Flyte an ordinary 3/5 for mileage. A lot of customers report a mileage of not over 40 in city traffic conditions – even customers who are otherwise fine with the scooter say you cannot expect a mileage of over 45 in highways.

On Olx, people selling their used Kinetic Flyte claim mileages between 30-35 kmpl on an average. The only outlier is a person who claims to see a 55 kmpl on his scooter. I guess if he indeed was seeing that kind of a mileage, he wouldn’t be selling this rare piece.

Final Verdict

The Kinetic Flyte does not come cheap at an ex-showroom price of over 40K. At that price, you have much better scooters that not only come with amazing mileages, but also much stylish looks. Mahindra is an awesome company but they need to do better if they have to gain a better foothold in the two wheeler market. A mileage of 35-40 kmpl is nothing to brag about. Avoid this if you can.
