Honda CB Twister

Honda CB Twister Mileage

Given the lower cost and relatively higher mileage, 110cc motorcycles are becoming increasingly popular in India. Honda has more than one bike in this segment. While we have already discussed the Dream Yuga, we are yet to review the mileage of Honda CB Twister which was launched much earlier back in 2009. This motorbike comes with a 109cc 4 stroke single cylinder engine that offers a max power of 9 BHP and a max torque of 9 Nm. The bike weights just over 108 kg and given the  light weight, it is a much preferred bike by people who would prefer utility over style. Honda CB Twister comes at a starting price of Rs. 45,156 ex-showroom in Delhi.

Honda CB Twister Mileage

The last 110cc bike we discussed on MileageInfo was the TVS Star City. The bike claimed an official mileage of 83.9 kmpl while in real life testing conditions the bike was reported to draw around 65 kmpl. According to Honda, the CB Twister could draw about 70 kmpl of fuel efficiency under standard testing conditions. Given the difference in official mileage claims, can the CB Twister still match the Star City? Let’s check the reviews out.

User Reviews

Mileages reported by customers are normally lower than that claimed by the company primarily because customers test their bike mileages in city conditions whereas the company measures it under standard highway-like testing conditions. According to BikeDekho, the Honda CB Twister can give a mileage as claimed by the company on highways although in city driving conditions, this may fall down to 55 kmpl – the average they claim is 65 kmpl.

IndianDrives.com offers a pretty great review of the bike and in their test, the blog reports a mileage of 57.2 kmpl under mixed conditions (city + highways). They however claim the mileage gets better as you drive more and you could possibly reach 60+ kmpl after riding 1000 kilometers.

Grahaksevak is a consumer complaints forum. CB Twister customers who have posted on the site have reported a mileage of around 45-50 kmpl. MaxAbout though has a better review. They report a city road mileage of 55 kmpl while the fuel efficiency on the highways is a good 70 kmpl.

All said, if you are looking for a real good reason to buy a CB Twister, you should check out the reviews by customers on xBHP.com. In the ownership thread for CB Twister where people who own a Twister post, a lot of customers report a mileage of  over 70 kmpl even in city conditions. Customers also report mileage of close to 97 kmpl on the highways. The common refrain in the thread is that when you drive in the 40-50 kmph range on highways, you can see 80+ but while on the city roads, you can only expect around 65 kmpl – not bad at all and definitely on par with, if not better than what is reported by people riding the Star City or Honda Dream Yuga.

Before I finish the review, I would definitely want you to consider what people over at MouthShut.com are saying. There are 126 reviews for the CB Twister and they together rate the bike a 4/5 for fuel consumption. Most of the reviews report a mileage of between 60-70 kmpl with some readers again noting a better mileage of close to 80 kmpl while driving on the highways.

Here is a crisp summary of the mileages reported on various websites.

Source City Mileage (kmpl) Highways (kmpl)
Official 70
BikeDekho 55 70
IndianDrives 57.2
GrahakSevak 45-50
MaxAbout 55 70
xBHP 65 80+
MouthShut 60-70 80

I do not say this everytime but the Honda CB Twister seems to be one bike where the reality appears better than company claims. You can definitely see awesome mileages in the right conditions. Elsewhere on everyday roads, you can still see a pretty good mileage close to what the company claims. If you are on the fence still, take my advice – go for it.

  4. Guys, please help me out,

I have a Honda Twister & i want to know if i can make a trip from one city to another that will be approx. 250KM.

    (NOTE – Speed will be 40-50 KM/Hr )

Will the bike last ? or will it overheat ?

  5. @Sachin
The bike will not overheat, even at speeds near 90 kmph, as I have tried it, at distances over 300 km.
There is a lot of space in the engine compartment, and this combined with the cooling fins on the tank help the engine stay very cool. I have always found the engine to be touchable even after very long rides.

  6. Guys is it much better than discover 100t and 150? I want good mileages at lower cost. So which one is better? Please suggest me guys

  7. Bike stops in heavy rains. Got the tank flushed and cleaned to avoid water mixing with petrol, but problem still persists. What to do?

  8. This bike is really awesome. It is made for racing and is for one person driving only. Good pickup than pulsar 135 150 & all 110 & 125 segment bikes. I race everyday with this. perfect for stunts, great balance pickup. Average mileage is 65+ and otherwise 55 to 65. Top speed is 105 & 110 on slopes like bridges and remains constant till interrupted from 110. It’s very low on maintenance. Honda bikes are known for their power in engine and true bike lovers know this very well

  9. Hi, I like this bike very much. I’m definitely going to buy this. I read all the reviews and I’m happy about it. Like everyone has said this is very stylish. But please can anyone tell me if a 5′ 4″ and 61kg person like me will find this bike compatible?

  11. @sandip Honda CB Twister is the best choice for you. It’s very stylish. I bought this last Monday and I’m very happy with the performance. If you ride at 40 km/h maximum speed it gives you around 65 to 70 km/liter. Read all reviews about this bike and you are going to buy it 🙂

  15. I love it . Initially, I was confused between TVS Sport and Twister. Then my friends told me that Twister is a good bike with awesome mileage but only one thing is bad in this bike. When I’m riding at 80 or 85 and suddenly braking, then the tire gets very slippery and dangerous to life.

  16. Guys.. I m confused between 2 bikes – Shine and Twister. Which will be more suitable for mileage, family members, look and cost?

  17. Good morning friends. I am not a regular or very good driver. Which bike is suitable for me? I like Shine and Twister. Please suggest.

  18. Guys, I own CB Twister for the past one and half years and have clocked 8700 km. Regarding mileage I want to confirm that if you ride at 40-50 speed on highway in fourth gear (with no stopping and going like in city traffic), then I have got a mileage of 80-82 kmpl. But in city, depending on traffic and how many times you do “stop and go”, the mileage drops to around 55-58 kmpl.

  19. Guys, I am confused among 3 bikes – Passion Pro, Shine and Twister. Which will be more suitable for mileage, family members, look and cost?

  20. Hi, I work at Honda Showroom. I am a salesman there. Twister gives mileage of 55 to 65 kmpl easily. 110 cc has best look and is most fuel efficient. It also has good pickup.
