TVS Wego

TVS launched its higher end scooter Wego back in 2009. Although Scooty remains the most popular scooter brand from the company, TVS Wego  still occupies an important position for TVS’ strategy for the higher end scooterette segment. Wego is priced at Rs. 50,460 (ex-showroom, Chennai) and has been previously adjudged the scooter of the year in 2011.

TVS Wego Mileage

Official Mileage Claim

TVS Wego has been positioned as the ‘body balance’ scooter that offers high stability on roads. The product is targeted at both the male and female audiences and according to company officials will provide close to 50 kilometers per liter of petrol. Do note that this mileage has been derived from standard testing conditions that may not exactly be what you experience on real roads. So the actual mileage could be different from this.

Customer Reviews For TVS Wego Mileage

Customers who have purchased the scooter seem to have had a pretty positive experience at least as far as the mileage is concerned. According to one customer on BikeDekho, TVS Wego provides a good mileage of around 50-55 kmpl on city roads while on highways, this goes up to 60-63 kmpl. This is definitely impressive for a scooter. Other customers on the website have posted mileages of 52kmpl, 48 kmpl, etc.

However according to BikeSpace, the mileage offered by TVS Wego is lower than what one could expect with Honda Activa. In a comparison posted by the website, they noticed a mileage of only around 40 kmpl on the Wego as compared 45 kmpl on Activa. The site attributes this lowered mileage to the heavier built of the Wego.

A customer on PricesIndia has been a lot more scathing. I am not sure if this is a one-off case, but according to the writer, his Wego provides just 26kmpl – and this was reportedly on a weekend where there was minimal traffic. I’m sure almost all Wego users see a better mileage than this!

MouthShut has some of the most forthright recommendations for the Wego. While a lot of users have complained of other things like poor battery, bad after-service,etc. mileage is not one of them. Most customers have expressed satisfaction on the mileage which is between 40-45 kmpl in city and 50 kmpl on highways.

One customer though claims the mileage appears to come down to around 36kmpl after a year or two of usage. Another customers points out an important point which is that the 45 kmpl mileage is applicable only when there is only one person riding the vehicle. Add a pillion rider, and the mileage seems to fall down to 38 km/l. This is a pretty obvious, but overlooked fact.
